Triumph TR4, year 1963.
Chassis (VIN) number CT15447.
Bodywork finished in Spa White. Black interior featuring black leather seats trimmed with white piping, and black carpeting on the floor.
This wonderful Triumph TR4 was fully and beautifully restored and overhauled to perfection in recent years. Since then, the car has covered fewer than 1,000 kilometres.
This TR4 is fitted with its factory original engine, gearbox, overdrive, and other running gear; it is a ‘matching numbers’ car.
This fantastic example is in better than new condition. The bodywork shows perfect panel fit, the paintwork is superb, the chrome has been renewed and is flawless, and the interior was meticulously restored. Many photographs of the restoration and accompanying invoices are present in the history file.
This gorgeous Triumph TR4 shows delightful original details, such as the early painted dashboard and the original air filters on the SU carburettors.
The original steering wheel is in the boot, currently replaced by a Moto Lita sports steering wheel with a leather rim.
Upgrades include an aluminium high capacity radiator and a stainless steel exhaust system.
This TR4 is fitted with two very desirable period options. First, a ‘Surrey Top’ complete with the fitted hard roof panel, which can be exchanged for the foldable vinyl soft top stored in the boot. The Surrey Top inspired Porsche to create the 911/912 Targa. Its advantage is that it can be removed completely, allowing a soft top to be fitted instead.
Second, the car is equipped with marvellous light alloy American Racing wheels shod with Firestone F560 165 R15 tyres. American Racing wheels were seen mostly on TR4s that competed successfully in the American SCCA E Production class in the hands of privateers.
The TR4 was never a factory backed car in the US, yet it consistently beat cars with more factory support, including the Porsche 356, Alfa Romeo Giulietta/Giulia, MGB, and Sunbeam Alpine.
This sporty Triumph TR4, with its 2.2 litre four cylinder engine producing over 100 bhp, transports you straight back to the golden days of motoring!
