Triumph TR2 ‘Long Door’, year 1954.
Chassis (VIN) number TS1389-LO. Finished in light grey (with a subtle green hue) combined with a dark red leather interior and matching carpeting. Red vinyl soft top and side screens.
This Triumph roadster is an early ‘Long Door’ model, a version that was only built in 1953 and 1954.
After approximately 4,000 cars had been produced, the doors were shortened because they were prone to striking higher kerbs when opened.
The Triumph TR2 marked the beginning of the legendary Triumph TR story, which ended with the phasing out of the TR8 in October 1981.
This TR2 was sold new in the USA and was imported into the Netherlands in 1998.
Between 2002 and 2004, the car was extensively restored and overhauled in a body-off restoration.
Since then, its sole Dutch owner has cherished and enjoyed the car.
The car has been maintained and serviced with great care over the years, and this history is fully documented. The car is in very good condition, showing only slight signs of previous use.
The driving experience is superb; few classic cars can offer the same immersive open-top driving experience as the TR2 and TR3 series.
The sporting character is enhanced by the 91 bhp four-cylinder engine, which produces a wonderful sound.
This 1954 Triumph TR2 is Mille Miglia eligible, meaning that the model participated in the original road race and that its owner may apply for entry to future editions of this legendary Italian event.
The car displays all the correct original details and is fitted with overdrive and chrome wire wheels. This fantastic TR2 could be your ticket to the Mille Miglia and many other wonderful historic motoring events.
